SPECIAL PRIZE IN 2024 FOR THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF A COMPLETE SONATA WITH AN MSO VIOLINIST OR CELLIST

With thanks to Sigma Alpha Iota–Milwaukee Alumni Chapter, a fortunate PianoArts competitor can win a special prize in the 2024 North American Competition  for The Best Performance Duo with a Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra violinist or cellist.

Alumni Derek Hartman summed up his experience by saying, “The successful twenty-first-century pianist must demonstrate an ability to perform with instrumentalists at a high level.  In my PianoArts competition, I received the invaluable opportunity to rehearse and perform a movement of a violin sonata with a member of the MSO. For the first time, I caught a glimpse of the skills expected of an effective collaborator in the professional music world: an ability to efficiently reconcile differing interpretive ideas and quickly adapt to one another. I feel that I’m better equiped for my own professional career. “
