Click here for an example of the agreement.

Semifinalists (also called PianoArtists) are responsible
for personal travel arrangements and expenses to
and from Milwaukee.

• On May 28, the registration fee of $250 is due for
the semifinal and final rounds, classes, and festival.

• Contestants will be provided with housing, meals, practice facilities, and transportation by host families.

• Competition performance order will be determined
 by a drawing.

During the competition/festival, PianoArtists agree
to participate in all activities and to have no
other commitments.

Concert Tours Following the Competition
Selected PianoArtists will be invited to return to Milwaukee for concerts as Fellows. When scheduling, the PianoArtist’s school calendar and prior commitments will be taken into consideration.

If a PianoArtist is invited and agrees to perform as a
guest artist for a partner organization, the PianoArtist
is expected to honor the commitment.

If a PianoArtist is invited to participate as a Fellow,
fellowship tours will be scheduled with on-site teaching
engagements in southeastern Wisconsin. Expenses will be paid and each Fellow will receive a stipend.

Procedures for judging
Video Preliminary Round

  • A screening committee will review each video for authentication, but will not evaluate. The video must show only the face and hands of the applicant. (Guidelines on producing a video are on the application page.)
  • The preliminary round is based on audio only. The jury for the preliminary round will listen to, not watch, the video and will know the contestants only by numbers. The jury will receive the contestant’s repertory and the essay, About Yourself. The essay should not include names of teachers and schools.
  • Up to eight contestants will be advanced to the live semifinal round in Milwaukee. The jury will also identity three alternates and will recommend contestants for participation on the junior jury and in master classes.
  • Teachers of contestants will
    receive the jury’s comments.

Semifinals and Final Round

  • Judges will not receive background information on the competitors.
  • During the competition, contestants may not speak to a judge. Following the semifinal recitals, when the finalists are announced, those not advanced to the finals will have individual conferences with each member of the jury. Conferences for finalists will be held the morning following the Awards Concert.
  • All awards will be announced during Awards Ceremony that follows the Final Concerto Round.

Jury decisions are final.
