ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Pianist and Conductor Lucas Amory is the first prize winner of the PianoArts 2024 North American Competition. He is a master’s degree student in piano performance at the Juilliard School in the studio of Julian Martin, having recently graduated from Harvard as a recipient of the Robert Levin Prize in Music Performance with a double concentration in German and Music, while studying with Hae-Sun Paik at the New England Conservatory of Music.
Lucas has also received top prizes at the James Yannatos Concerto Competition, Lyra Young Artists Music Competition, the Claudette Sorel and the Arthur Fraser International Piano Competitions, and is a 2020 Presidential Scholar of the Arts. He has performed in countless opera and musical theater productions both in directorial and répétiteur roles, and was employed as a Ferris Fellow in the Harvard University Choir.
Leah Amory is a second-year violinist studying at the Curtis Institute of Music with Pamela Frank and Erin Keefe. She made her concerto debut at age 15 as the First Prize winner of International Virtuoso. Other prizes include being a winner of 2021 National YoungArts, Grand Prize winner in NY Chamber Players, finalist in the Lyra Competition and Juilliard Concerto Competition. She also enjoys chamber music, which has led her to perform with peers from the Perlman Music Program and as part of Juilliard’s ChamberFest. She has made appearances with Bruce Adolphe in Alice Tully Hall and led members of the Back to Bach Project as Regional Director. She is grateful for her mentors Catherine Cho, Itzhak Perlman, and Li Lin. Leah is also a member of non-profit music organizations such as Concerts in Motion and Community Table.
Kelly Doherty has appeared on the stages of various theaters, including Forward Theater, Milwaukee Chamber Theater, Next Act Theater, and First Stage Theater, among others. Among her favorite roles are Trunchbull in Matilda, Annie Wilkes in Misery, Gangster 2 in Kiss Me Kate, Bodey in Lovely Sunday for Creve Ceouer, and Williamina in Silent Sky.
Ms.Doherty received rave reviews for her performance in Eugene O’Neill’s A Moon for the Misbegotten at Milwaukee Chamber Theater. Jim Higgins from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel wrote, “The three principals were captivating…a showcase for the towering talent of Kelly Doherty.” After earning her BFA in theater performance from UW-Whitewater, she relocated to Milwaukee. She received a degree in theater at the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater. Her mentor there, the late Jim Butchart.
